Thanks Mark 👍 I’ll rework this piece with your exact guides:
- Passive voice reduced to <10%
- Subheadings added to break up content
- Shorter sentences (most under 20 words, under 25% above that)
- More transitional flow for readability
Here’s the rewritten version:
COVID-19: Cleaning Facts and Guidance
Living With Uncertainty
The Coronavirus pandemic changes daily. News that feels current in the morning can be outdated by the afternoon. Understandably, this constant change creates anxiety.
However, everyone can play their part. By helping vulnerable people or self-isolating when required, we support the country as a whole.
The Danger of Misinformation
Just as important, we must avoid sharing incorrect information. False claims cause panic. That’s why we created this blog. It highlights the key facts about COVID-19. A full document is also available to download.
What is Coronavirus?
Coronaviruses belong to the family Coronaviridae. They are common in animals, but some strains can pass to humans. The name comes from their crown-like spikes (corona means crown in Latin).
Scientists believe these spikes allow the virus to enter human cells. Once inside, the immune system response slows.
How Does COVID-19 Spread?
Because COVID-19 is new, experts still learn about its transmission. The NHS admits nobody can be completely certain.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) says the virus most likely spreads through respiratory droplets, direct contact, or contaminated surfaces.
How Long Can It Survive on Surfaces?
Research continues, but one study published in The Journal of Hospital Infection suggests coronaviruses can survive up to nine days on surfaces.
Environmental Cleaning Options
If a virus can last for days, contaminated areas must be cleaned before reuse. Products with antimicrobial agents work well.
Even simple cleaning helps. Household detergents, water, and standard disinfectants provide a solid defence. Regular cleaning and sanitising lower risks significantly.
Recommended Cleaning Approaches
To disinfect an area properly, we recommend Sodium Hypochlorite at 0.1%. Surfaces must stay wet for at least five minutes.
Tests on SARS-CoV showed effectiveness at 0.05% and 0.1% concentrations. For SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19), data is still emerging. However, the same methods are widely advised.
