- The black/red staining is an algae known as Trentepohlia which grows on the lichen within the render. Trentepohlia is a common algal component (phycobiont) of lichens, which consists of an intimate symbiotic association between a fungus and one or more algae or cyanobacteria.
- Shaded areas are more likely to be affected by the algae as the surface will have more moisture for the algae/bacteria to thrive in.
- We don’t recommend protective coatings as this can prevent our treatment from working in the future.
- We recommend treating render every 1-5 to years depending on several factors that differ per property.
- We use Plant Wash to protect plants that can’t be moved away from the areas of the property we are treating – This fertilises the soil and leaves a buffer on the surface.
- Most domestic render cleaning can be done from the ground using extendable application poles.

Yes, the chemicals could be harmful to grass and plants, which is why we always we apply a solution of Plant Wash on completion of our work.
Plant Wash ensures the safety of your plants by:
- Neutralising the bleach
- Fertilising the plants through their leaves
- Coating the leaves with a buffering agent
- Adding back vital nutrients at the base of the plants, helping beneficial bacteria to repopulate the soil.
We rinse with clean water, before, during and after the cleaning, then use Plant Wash as the final rinse to make absolutely sure every step has been taken to protect your landscaping.
If you approve a quote that offers Plant Wash we will guarantee your plants for 90 days, so if anything happens we will replace affected plants, landscaping etc up to the value of £1500.00.
Most two-story homes can be cleaned from ground level, but on larger homes or townhouses we may need to apply the treatment from an extension pole or cherry picker.
As long as we can park a large van on your driveway we can use the cherry picker which is the safest option.
