Hosepipe Ban in Oxfordshire?
Alfresco Can Still Clean Your Property
Thames Water has confirmed a hosepipe ban will start from 22 July 2025. This affects Oxfordshire and surrounding areas.
It’s due to the driest spring in over 100 years and a summer that’s broken records for heat and low rainfall. Even though it rained most of the day yesterday!
But here’s the important bit: Alfresco Exterior Cleaning is still allowed to work.
Alfresco is Fully Approved
While the ban restricts homeowners from using hoses for gardens, patios, or windows, it does not apply to professional cleaning companies like us.
We’re fully approved under Thames Water bylaws and permitted to continue operating throughout the ban.
That means your window cleaning, render treatment, patio washing, commercial cladding cleaning, steam cleaning, doff cleaning and more will go ahead as planned.
Why We’re Still Working
-
For our window cleaning customers, Alfresco use a reverse osmosis system that purifies water under high pressure and is the most efficient system available from Grippa Tank.
-
It’s clean, efficient, and uses only what’s needed.
-
Every drop is filtered for maximum effectiveness.
-
Our vehicle exterior cleaning vans have efficient, high-powered jet washers to get the surfaces clean in less time.
We’ve invested in professional equipment and systems that allow us to deliver the highest standard of exterior cleaning, without waste.
This isn’t just about permission. It’s about doing things properly.

Time to Fix the Real Problem
Thames Water loses millions of litres of water every single day due to leaks and poor infrastructure.
Pipes that haven’t been upgraded in decades are still leaking. Entire roads are soaked by burst mains. Yet here we are—being told not to water plants or wash windows.
Maybe it’s time the focus shifted.
Before stopping hard-working local businesses from earning a living, perhaps Thames Water should deal with the real cause of water loss.
What You Can Expect
✅ We’ll continue working safely and legally
✅ No interruption to your regular window cleaning
✅ No risk of fines—our work is fully permitted
✅ You support a local, family-run business
Alfresco has been cleaning Oxfordshire homes since 1996. This isn’t our first experience with a hosepipe ban. We’ve always followed the rules. And we’ve always looked after the homes and gardens we work around.
The hosepipe ban doesn’t stop us from doing our job. It doesn’t stop you from keeping your property clean, presentable, and safe.
