How Do You Get Started?
Most people discover Alfresco through Google, a leaflet, or social media. Once you’ve found us, you can either fill out a request form on our website or call the office directly. Sarah, our office manager, will then arrange a free home assessment. In most cases, Mark will visit you to carry this out.
After the visit, we prepare a written quote. You can then choose to accept or decline. If you accept, Sarah schedules the work on a date that fits your diary. We take a 25% deposit, and 24 hours before the job you’ll also receive a reminder notification.
What Happens on the Job Day?
The team arrives at 8am sharp. First, we complete a quick walkaround with you to explain the process. Next, we set up the site safely and prepare the equipment.
Then the roof clean begins. We remove moss, algae, and lichen using low-pressure hot water with an Aquapole. For safety, we always use a cherry picker or a tower scaffold. At the same time, we clear your gutters of debris. Meanwhile, the ground team collects fallen waste on protective sheets and loads it into hippo bags.
Once moss removal is finished, we treat the roof with a SoftWash solution. The ground team soaks your plants with fresh water and then applies PlantWash for extra protection. Finally, we rinse all windows to remove any residue. After a thorough clean-up, we carry out a final walkaround with you to confirm you are happy.
How Do We Calculate the Price?
Roof cleaning costs depend on several factors. These include the size of your property, the roof surface area, and the level of moss or lichen. Access also matters, as not all sites allow easy use of equipment.
As a guide, a three-bed detached home starts at £950. However, most clients also need plant protection, gutter clearing, access equipment, and a full window rinse. With everything included, the average cost for a three-bed property is around £1,700.
How Long Does Roof Cleaning Take?
A standard roof clean takes one full day, usually from 8am until 3pm. Larger homes can take up to two days. Other exterior jobs, such as driveways, render, or wood cleaning, normally take half a day. Domestic window cleaning lasts 30–60 minutes, while commercial projects can take a full day or more depending on size.
Do We Walk on the Roof?
No, we don’t. Unlike many companies, we never walk on your roof. Instead, we use access equipment that avoids damage. Our cherry picker reaches up to 14m high and 14m out. If the cherry picker cannot reach certain areas, we use a tower scaffold. All our teams hold PASMA training to use this equipment safely.
