Have you wondered what the process is from finding out about us, all the way to paying the invoice for the finished job?
You would of probably found out about us from Google, our leaflets or found us on social media. From here you can fill out a request form on our website or you can call our office and Sarah will book you in for one of the team (often the case Mark) to come to your property to do a home assessment free of charge. A quote will then be made from the assessment and then you as the customer can approve or dismiss the quote. If you choose to accept the quoted price Sarah will book in the job on a date that will suit you and a 25% deposit will be taken, 24 hours before the job you will get a notification to remind you of the job. On the day of the job, the team will do a walk around with you to explain the job. After completion of the job the team will once again do a walk around with you to ensure your satisfied with the work. Sarah will then send the remaining balance for you to pay which can be done by credit card, debit card or bank transfer.
What determines the price of the job?
Prices on exterior cleaning has many variables that need to be considered before a formal quotation price can be made. Variables such as how big is the property? If it’s a roof clean then how big is the roof in terms of surface area? How much moss, algae and lichen is on your roof? Can we get our access equipment around your property? All these variables play a part in the price. For an idea of prices, a three bed detached house will start at around £950. However, from that you will need to think about the other services that could be required to carry out the job. These usually consist of access equipment, plant wash to be used to protect your plants and flowers, your gutters cleaned out and your windows washed down after the roof treatment. With all of these services included in the quote for a 3 bedroom house the final price should be circa £1700.
What is the process of the job on the day the team arrive?
If we use a roof clean as an example, the team assigned to your job will arrive at 8am and begin setting up the site and give you the customer, a walk around to explain the process of the job that will be completed that day. Once the site is set up the team will start remove the moss, algae and lichen from the roof with a low pressure water aquapole elevated in the access equipment (usually tower scaffold or cherry picker) This usually takes the longest part of the day as the nozzle can only tackle a small surface area at a time. From that the gutters will then be cleaned out from all the infestation that was on the roof and fallen into them. As that is going on, the ground team will be cleaning up the dirt that is falling onto the protective sheets and transferring it into the hippo bag ready to be disposed of. Once the infestation has been removed the SoftWash chemical will be applied, the ground team will have watered down the plants surrounding the house. PlantWash will then be applied also onto the surrounding plants and flowers to help protect the aerobic bacteria that SoftWash chemical can sometimes damage. The windows will then be rinsed down to ensure no chemical is left on the glass. Once that is complete, the clear up of the site begins with all the moss that is still around the property will be removed and put into the hippo bags. A final walk around the property to observe the finished job with you will then be done to confirm you are happy with the completed job.

With SoftWash systems we can apply the SoftWash chemical onto your property which then in turn completely kills anything on your roof.
How long does the job take on average?
If you are having a roof clean on your property, you would be looking at a full day normally starting at 8am and finishing around 3pm, if your property is larger though it can take up to 2 full working days. With other jobs such as driveway cleans, render cleans and wood cleans it usually takes half a day. Domestic window cleans will usually take 30 mins to an hour and commercial, depending on the size, can take up to a full day.
Do we set foot on your roof when we are cleaning and treating your roof?
The answer to this is very simple, no we do not. What sets us apart from other exterior cleaning companies is that we use access equipment on all our sites to ensure no damage is caused to your property, at the end of day we are here to make your property look better and not worse! Here at Alfresco we use access equipment such as a cherry picker truck which can reach up to 14 meters vertical and 14 meters horizontal. In most cases the cherry picker is more than capable for our needs however, if the truck cannot gain access to some parts of roof, we use a tower scaffold in which our teams are PASMA trained to use to access the roof.
Warranties and guarantees, do we offer them at Alfresco?
Yes, at Alfresco we actually offer a 5-year warranty for our services. However, the warranty is not backed by us at Alfresco but is done by SoftWash Systems. This results in, if we were to ever go out of business (Don’t worry we are not!) your warranty would still be viable. However, it is very unlikely that a warranty would need to be implemented as we strive for top quality work.
